The Woodruff Foundation was established in 1986 to enhance, through financial support, the development and delivery of mental health services and chemical dependency treatment in Ohio’s Cuyahoga County.
To celebrate 20 years of supporting mental health services within the community, the organization selected Changing Perceptions as the focus and theme of its annual report. The intent was to help clarify the inaccurate stigmas associated with mental illness, while emphasizing the fact that the Foundation’s work has helped address these erroneous perceptions. The report cover was designed with a transparent clouded vellum paper that read one way on the front side with a different interpretation on the other side, playing off the obscurity of perceptions. On the inside, we incorporated the most prevalent misconceptions about mental health issues stated as Perceptions contrasted with the Actual Facts. It was a unique way to present conflicting information on a sensitive subject matter, leading to the conclusion that nothing is ever ordinary when dealing with behavioral health issues.
